Smart spending is a big ticket issue for charities and non-profits, especially when it comes to issues like transport. On that front, owning a Toyota Prius can be a huge boon. Popular for its eco-friendliness and fuel efficiency, the hybrid is a prime option for any company that doesn't want to burn holes in their pocket to extend their outreach. That's where the 2013 Prius Plug-In Challenge comes in.

Toyota's incentive is aimed at local charitable organizations in the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut area, and offers donations for whoever earns the highest average fuel economy rating using the Prius Plug-In. Over the course of 30 days, participants must drive 500 miles, or 75 miles per week. After the allotted time is up, the contenders will be judged, with the winner taking home a $2,500 donation. There is also $1,000 awarded to the second place winner, and $500 to the third.

The challenge is sure to be popular among the charitable organizations in the tri-state area, and a fantastic opportunity to showcase the work they put into our communities.  It also  demonstrates  how a hybrid can help these non-profits achieve their goals economically.
