Winning at Pike's Peak is nice, but doing it twice? That's quite the feat. Last year, Toyota entered its P002 electric vehicle racer in the EV segment, and took home the top prize. They'll be at it again this year, but with the competition gunning for them, they're looking to make the racer better.

To do that, they've headed down to the Toyota Racing Development U.S.A. facility located in North Carolina. It's there were they will test out new strategies, enhance the aerodynamics of the one-of-a-kind chassis, and make improvements where it is needed. Some of those include a new 42-kilowatt lithium-ion battery pack in the back end of the vehicle, now with more power. There's also new technology to keep the Toyota P002 racer on course and take those rigorous uphill turns with more precision than ever.

The man at the helm of the electric vehicle racer will be Rod Millen, a rally legend, and patriarch of racing royalty. His son, Rhys, completed the traditionally-powered racer category in record time last year. At Lithia Toyota of Klamath Falls, we're hoping dad can emulate son, and take home an EV racing record at the 91st running of the historic event.

Whatever happens, you'll know about it here on our blog. In the meantime, we invite you to stop in to our Klamath Falles showroom  and check out the new Toyota lineup. We might not have racers in our lot, but there's quality at every corner from the Camry to Highlander.  Our team is here to answer any questions you might have, and arrange at test drive at your convenience.
