Remember the days when supermarkets used to roll out the red carpet and break out the bubbly when the one-millionth customer made their way to the register? We've always wondered why that tradition ever stopped, and as it just so happens, so has our favorite automaker here at Lithia Toyota of Klamath Falls. After all, one's 50-millionth customer is a customer worth celebrating.
Just this week, one Michael Dee went and bought himself a 2013 Toyota RAV4 from his local dealership in Hempstead, NY. A long-time police officer of the state, little did he know that he had just become Toyota's 50-millionth customer in the US, and it wasn't until a family barbecue later that week that he realized it.
As he was working the grill, Toyota executive Bill Fay drove up to Dee's house in a brand new RAV4 with a bow on top and everything. The two shook hands, Fay shows him the car and, much to Dee's surprise, tells the man that his new wheels are free of charge. Dee was naturally beside himself and Fay was so excited that he stuck around to eat.
"We're so grateful to our customers in the US on helping us achieve such a huge milestone for our company," says Fay. "To be able to thank our 50 millionth customer in person - one of New York City's finest, no less - was also a great honor to me personally. By the way, the barbecue was great."1
With that said, don't let Officer Dee have all the fun. Feel free to visit our dealership here in Klamath Falls, OR to experience the RAV4 today. After all, what's not to love about an automaker that gives back?
