Folks, what's not to love about rolling with one of the most American automakers in the world? After all, we Americans have an eye for quality; the kind of people who know what they like and want what they want. In our experience here at Lithia Toyota of Klamath Falls, few things are more important to our American brothers and sisters than safety behind the wheel.

Lucky for the red, white and blue, our favorite automaker has us covered and then some.

Just recently, the engineers at Toyota announced that they had put the finishing touches on what they're calling a Pre-collisions System (PCS). It's all part of their effort as of late to integrate autonomous driving technologies into their lineup as means to usher in a new era of safety for drivers, passengers and pedestrians.

With PCS, the system is able to detect pedestrians and obstructions in the road, at which point it will emit both audial and visual alerts to the driver of a vehicle. If for some reason the driver does not hit the brakes or move to avoid what would be an imminent collision, the system itself will brake or steer the vehicle for them.

While it may sound like something out of a science-fiction movie, Toyota is hoping that the technology will be made available to the public by 2015.

Until then, feel free to learn more about the cutting-edge safety features you can already find on our lineup from the experts in our car parts department at our dealership here in Klamath Falls, OR. They'll make you proud to be an American.
